Mont Gerbier de Jonc

Mount Gerbier de jonc

It's in the mountainous terrain of Mont Gerbier de Jonc, at the base of the Massif Central, that the Loire River, the longest waterway in France, has its source. This old volcano stands with its distinctive rocky dome, rising some 1,551 meter high. It takes about an hour to hike to its summit, but the effort is well rewarded at the top with an outstanding view over Ardèche landscapes.
